Both men and women are at risk for colorectal cancer.

The disease is most common among people aged 50 and older and the risk increases with age. A personal history of colon polyps or cancer, a family history of colorectal cancer or colorectal polyps or inflammatory bowel disease or other related cancers also increase the risk of developing colorectal cancer.
